I’ve found 3 ads for flat windscreen Pre-73 beetles that are all labeled “super Beetle”. Uneducated Swine.

They had flat windscreens for the first year...
And in Europe I think they made the flat windscreen model alongside the curved windshield model for several years.

They are just referring to the quality of said Beetle: “Super”. As in, “This is a SUPER Beetle. Please gib mony.”

The 1971 and 72 Supers had flat glass.
This mod scares me a bit though. “a 6 cd changer built into ac fan”

I was under the impression that that Super Beetle name only applied to the later curved glass models, but I guess I was wrong. So I am the uneducated swine. lol.

Yup. My sister has a ‘72 Super Beetle: flat windshield, long nose, McPherson struts up front.
On the other hand, while I had a ‘73 Super Beetle back in high school with its goldfish bowl windshield, a frend of mine had a ‘74 standard Beetle: pneumatic bumpers, but also flat glass windshield and torsion bars up front.

“So I am the uneducated swine”
Don’t do that now. Successful people quote Ivy Baker.”I’m often wrong but never in doubt”
